The 7(a) Loan Guaranty Program is the Small Business
Administration's (SBA) primary lending program. It was designed to
meet the majority of the small business community's financing needs.
In addition to general financing, the 7(a) program also encompasses a
number of the SBA's specialized loan programs presented in the table below

Designed to make loans for less than $100,000 more
readily available and to streamline the loan review process |
| Fa$trak |
An experimental small loan program being undertaken by
a few lenders |
| CAPLines |
Is composed of five programs designed to help small
businesses meet short-term and cyclical working capital needs |
| International Trade |
The International Trade Loan Program is designed to
help companies which are either preparing to trade internationally
or have already begun to export goods and services. It also
provides help to companies which have suffered from competing with
imports. |
| Export Working Capital |
A combined SBA and Ex-Im Bank program to provide
exporting small companies with short-term working capital |
| Pollution Control |
A program to provide loan guarantees to eligible small
businesses for the financing of the planning, design, or
installation of a pollution control facility |
| DELTA |
An acronym for Defense Loan and Technical Assistance,
this is a joint venture between the SBA and the Department of
Defense to provide technical assistance to defense-dependent small
firms adversely affected by cutbacks in defense |
| Minority and Women's Pre-qualification |
A pilot mentoring program which uses intermediaries to
assist prospective minority and women borrowers in developing a
viable loan application package and securing loans. |
| Disabled Assistance |
Congress has not seen fit to provide funds for direct
handicapped assistance loans. |
| Qualified Employee Trust |
Designed to provide assistance to ESOPs (Employee
Stock Ownership Plans |
| Veteran's Loans |
The nation's gratitude does not, at this time, extend
to providing funds for direct loans to Veterans. |
